It feels like forever since I last found a spare moment to post on here as life has been rather more hectic than usual. The steady decline of Covid lockdown measures has meant work has become more demanding. What’s more, the gyms are now reopen and even my H.E.M.A club has found an outdoor space where we can start practicing again. Between these and family commitments, I’ve had little time or energy for writing blog posts. That said, I have been doing a bit of hobby and while I have 30 mins free time this morning, thought I’d get a quick post up showing what I’ve been working on.
Cities of Sigmar
The cities of Sigmar have been slowly coming together. I’ve finally settled on Tempest Eye as this will let me take units from my Kharadron Overlords. What’s more, the sub faction buffs to shooting and movement seem to synergise quite nicely with my collection. Now I’m finally committed to a sub faction, I’ve been making steady progress.
Progress aside, I will admit that I’m starting to reach a point where I’m struggling to find the motivation to work on this project. Mass repetition and old miniatures makes it quite hard going. I’ll get there eventually with them, but have put them to one side again for the time being in favour of my Kharadron Overlords. I’m hopeful that as I plan on using some of the Kharadron Overlord units in my final cities list, this will grant me the motivation to finally see the Cities of Sigmar project finalised.
Kharadron Overlords and the Leadbelcher spray can
I love the Kharadron Overlord miniatures. From the massive sky vessels to simple things like being able to build the Arkanaut company standing in actual sabre guard positions, there is a lot here which appeals to me. What’s more, after completing Thundrik’s Profiteers, I have a very fast and original paint scheme worked out. With that said I’ve been eager to progress this project, however it seems the fates had other ideas…
I’ve spent the last few weeks waiting for a can of Leadbelcher spray paint to be delivered. The plan was to prime all my Kharadron Overlords as well as the Steam Tank in one go. Unfortunately this took much longer than expected, due to some supply issues with Games Workshop and I ended up cancelling my order and looking for an alternative supplier. After a bit of searching online, I found a store with the paint in stock and was able to get fast shipping. The can arrived safely earlier this week and so I was able to get everything primed as planned. I’m a few weeks behind schedule thanks to the stock delays but better late than never as they say.
I’ve since been focusing on getting my Kharadron overlords painted up and have been making some excellent progress, finding the contrast over leadbelcher trick both fast and effective.
I’ll get more pics up once I make more progress on the Kharadron Overlords. Needless to say I’m happy with how this project is progressing so far.
Drongon’s Aether Runners
A delivery arrived from my F.L.G.S yesterday, My Drongon’s Aether Runners from Broken Realms. I’ll be looking to get these Assembled, primed and added to the main Kharadron Overlords force A.S.A.P. I’ve been looking for an Endrinmaster in dirigible suit and more Endrinriggers, so this box was an ideal addition to the collection.
Hobby going into May
I’ll likely spend the next few weeks progressing my Kharadron Overlords and hopefully getting them to a table top standard very soon. Once complete, I’ve got the Warhammer Underworlds Crimson Court box built, primed and ready for paint. This should be a fun little project as the 4 vampire miniatures are excellent quality, characterful and highly detailed.
Looking ahead to future projects, Games Workshop have been teasing some new lore/ rules for the Fallen Dark Angels faction. I’ve got my Cypher miniature already painted up and would love to pick up some Horus Heresy style space marines to accompany him. Regardless, I will definitely be getting May’s issue of White Dwarf and hope Games Workshop give us some viable rules and maybe even progress the storyline a little. (I wont hold my breath though.)
That’s pretty much me! I’ll post up again once I’ve made some progress on these projects and fingers crossed we get some epic announcements during next weeks Warhammer Fest. (*cough* The Lion *cough*)
